I'm doing some literature review using Scopus as bibliographic database. I know that the inclusion of other databases could improve the scope of the research but I'm asking if the use of only one database can be a threat to validity. (in this case I'm worried about Scopus vs. IEEE Explore + Springerlink + ACM)
Dear Dario... I am sure you miss a lot more research and the validity might be questioned. There might be some studies published in peer-reviewed journals, which are still valid, but not cited/published by Scopus. In that case, the limited resources might really bios your research, indeed. You can find the studies which are related to your area, and see if they are published/cited by some well-known publishing services. If the journal is an approved one, then you can take the paper for your research... My regards
The validity question depends on your work. As the other colleges answer, you may miss important information. Once a colleague make a review using only one database and miss ONE paper. We developed an study to evaluate a treatment for a disease and validate an experimental model in one animal specie. When we submit the paper the reviewer found this missing paper (other researchers used the same model with a different purpose). So, our paper objective of validate the model was already published. We need to reformulated the entire article to publish just because of this one paper missed. If you really want to check all literature, I recommend goggle scholar, since it reaches to abstract of events and the journals of developing countries usually not included in scopus or other bases.

Still are the gaps. I recommend to be more comprehensive
