Do you think that quiz is a way of a good assessement to enhance students learning? Most students cannot stand to make a quiz in the class or learners afraid of the word "quiz" in the class.
I don't use quizzes for summative assessment but for enhancing learning. My quizzes are unsupervised, so the students can communicate and exchange ideas on correct answers. It's kind of fun for the students.
I use quizzes for several purposes. One purpose is to assess specific knowledge. However, another purpose is to assess my own curriculum at any given point during the class. The responses to the quiz indicate areas of indecision on the part of the students as a whole, or a particular student individually. I can then either reteach, or work with the students individually. This works well in Speech and Hearing Science Class.
