In connection with the development of cybercrime on the Internet, the security systems for transfer and processing of data, financial transactions, electronic banking, etc. carried out on the Internet are improved. In addition to electronic banking, the key information security in the internal IT systems of central state institutions is protected. Cybercriminal attacks on cyber-banking systems and hacker attacks aimed at companies to extort ransom for decrypting data encrypted by computer viruses on disks (cybercriminal ransomware attacks) and hack attacks from abroad on key central institutions, ministries and other institutions of the public administration sector and enterprises of strategic branches of the national economy.
In connection with the above, I am asking you:
Do you think, for security reasons, everything that happens on the Internet should be analyzed by the public security services?

What is 'public'? Security services based on information technologies developed by free enterprises, that is by businesses. In military and government security cases, some of technologies can be developed and utilized by the government entities. In both cases, neither businesses, nor governments should brake existing privacy and security laws of consumers and citizens. This simple truth is lagging behind the fast pace of the information technology development. True democratic countries have to be refreshing those particular laws on a frequent basis commensurate with the rapid changes in that technology development and its utilization cases.
Dear Dr. Artur Braun, I understand the humor of your answer above. Unfortunately, our approval or disapproval as consumers and citizens do not have any decision making power. Privacy and security of the country ought to be handled by the top political and government bodies. In most of the cases, whatever was developed in information technologies ain't aimed initially to be secure and private, as it would require a significant expense.
So that, security algorithms are added up as soon as it is commercially viable, and its quality are initially a questionable thing. Then, business and consumers' licensing mechanisms are used to extort money for the forward looking additional security and privacy development. Making story short, there are business and government rules to be corrected first to make the situation transparent and favorable for privacy and security protection more or less synchronous with information technology product releases.
In the above matter, opinions are divided and will probably remain so, because there are various types of information services on the Internet and various types of information, with different levels of significance for individual entities, companies, citizens as well as for the safety of users of this information and security of state institutions . Because in the development of online business and in the field of providing services, certain information technology companies also have untrustworthy business entities and criminal organizations, so the transfer of potentially important information on the Internet should be analyzed by the state security services established for this purpose. However, the open question remains about the scope of surveillance by the state security service of information transfer via the Internet carried out between citizens who do not run a business, transfer of private e-mails and citizens posted and comments on social media portals. There are significantly different opinions on this issue.
Internet should be continously monitored by cyber agencies to avoid any leakage if info or any incident. At the same time, privacy if public must be maintained to overcome trust issues and sense od satisfaction.
If the public security service is trustworthy, then they may analyse everything on the internet. I am still curious, how they can break strong encryption algorithm like AES. But if they just want analyse passively, then it would not be mush helpful. Most of the cyber criminals are still out there and no-one is able to catch them. Every day websites are being hacked. ATM cards, credit cards fraud happens. But even cyber cell is not able to do something for that. Therefore I don't think that this type of analysis will improve security against cyber crime.
It allows to maintain social control, recognize and monitor threats, and prevent and investigate criminal activity.
That's right. Analyzing by certain public services the entire content of the Internet by Big Data Analytics systems would be very expensive and would not be accepted by the society even if it were to increase the level of cybersecurity. But even if it had been done, it would have been unlikely that the public would have been informed about it.
