I want to study data mining problems of mutiplex network ,for example: search, recommendation, mining communities,evaluation,etc, hoping to find a basic software toolkit , such as networkx. It can calculate the basic parameters of mutiplex network, and also provide secondary development.
Does anyone know the other better tools? Especially the Python language tool, thank you!

If you would like to use Python, there is a nice package to deal with complex networks - NetworkX (http://networkx.github.io/) . There are many algoritms and network structures and analysis measures.

Maybe you should explain a bit more what you want to achieve. Are you talking about design, planning, engineering, control or management?
Also "tool" is a generic term that also includes analytical tools and and are not only related to software tools. In social networks, mining techniques associated with optimization approaches might reveal interesting if you want to identify preferences or behaviours.
For Planning and design aspects, there are a lot of approaches to be used that are implemented in software tools. In the case of complex or multi-layer nextworks, it is worthwhile to check whether functional, space or time analysis could lead to decompose and simplify your problem. Bio-inspired approaches are sometimes useful when trying to estimate network evolution, but they need to be used appropriately. Not all networks behave like swarms or colonies....
For control and management issues, some specific tools from queueing theory, applied probability or control theory are worth to be considered together with simulations tools (like OpNet or NS-x)...
This is only a small part of what could be done. However, you should first identify what you want to consider.

- do you want to just show and measure each network separately?
- do you want to combine several networks together and map/measure them?
- do you want to show the intersection of several networks and map/measure the result?

The package implements a network representation based on pandas DataFrames [the nodes and edges are each represented by a DataFrame (i.e., a table)]. The edge table has a MultiIndex which indicates the indices of the linked nodes, and every column represents a layer of the "multilayer network".
It also has interfacing methods to networkx (https://networkx.github.io/), scipy sparse matrices (http://docs.scipy.org/doc/scipy/reference/sparse.html) and graph_tool (https://graph-tool.skewed.de/), so you can easily utilize their functionalities in your analysis.
I am helping a friend with a large multiplex and graph_tool seems to be indicated because of it performance. BUT, how do we apply multi layers in graph_tool. Can't find it in documentations.
