The use of Systematic Literature Reviews is common in psychological and general medical research, but is now gaining traction in Software engineering research. The process is outlined succinctly by Dr Andy Siddaway of Stirling University in his attached article on the subject.

The systematic literature review process learns from previous literature reviews and is quite different from the historical method of reviewing literature it that it follows the principle of standing on the shoulders of giants. Systematic literature reviews  are registered with recognised bodies such as the PROSPERO database which is run by the National Institute of Health Research.

A question for my construction research contacts: have any of you any experience of following the systematic literature review process in construction research? Alternatively, are you aware of any researcher who is currently using this approach? If you can answer yes to either of these questions, please contact me by direct message.
