Try to look into the Word configuration window under: File/Options/Advanced and in the section "General" UNCHECK the checkbox "Confirm file format conversion on open" if checked.

Then try insert citation again.

These type of problems are so common, I have always done it manually. When you submit to a journal, they have their own software for doing this anyway

In mendely word plugin problems are common , my suggestion is to uninstall word plugin and then reinstall , sometimes have updating problem , however every citing software either mendeley or endnote has end bibiliography mistakes , after inserting correct it manually one by one following journal reference style.

Better to use Endnote ;)

I encountered the very same problem. I tried to reinstall Mendeley, tried various versions of the software, etc, to no avail. This issue emerged after I changed some Word settings, and thus, I started to suspect that some Word option caused the issue. I tried to delete all my Word options to get back to default settings through the registry editor and that sorted the Mendeley issue!

Hi I'm trying to cite on Mendeley, For example, I have 4 authored paper, the citation format should be (1,2,3,and 4,2011). At first trial it was ok. I cited the same paper again it was like (1 et al,2011. Please help me how to solve this issue on Mendeley? Thanks in advance,

don't use mendeley , use Endnote
