Open access journal are a great achievement for the scientific community. However when it comes to publish the author is charged with a processing fee. This is quite fear and allows everyone to have access to science achievements. As a young researcher I don't have any funding at the moment and for this reason I would like to ask for research grant. Publishing independently would greatly help me but I can not publish on my own since I need collaborations and someone to pay the paper for me. Do you know any bioinformatics research journal that allow researcher to publish without paying the processing charge (possibly with impact factor)?

What you ask sadly highlights that Open Access journals seem to have become more a burden than a solution. I am aware of at least two journals where you can publish without paying article processing charges, one is Bioinformatics from Oxford Publishing (http://bioinformatics.oxfordjournals.org/) and the other is Transactions on Computational Biology and Boinformatics (http://www.computer.org/portal/web/tcbb/home). It true that in publishing with these journals your paper will only be accessible via subscription, but who really cares? Grant reviewers certainly don't.

It was the only Biology Journal that was free and open access for a long time. History now.

The research on Bioinformatics is increasing tremendously. All reputed Journals either will charge heavily or may not accept without experimental proof (wet lab).
