You ask the following -- Do I  include gifted students in my definition of exceptional children?  My short answer is to say, Yes, I  do. By definition, exceptional chilren are those children who do what is only at the reach of extraordinary children in the cognitive, social, prosocial, moral, emotional domain, just to cite five exemples of psychological development. Gifted sudents are talented sudents in one or several áreas of knowledge. This similarity notwithstanding, gifted sudents are always seen, say, in positive terms. This is not always the case of exceptional children. Children who show an atypical development may be seen in positive or negative terms. In a nutshell, gifted children are always exceptional. Exceptional children may not be gifted children,
