‘National Enterprise Development Programme’ is the need of the hour toady. National Enterprise Development Programme may be aimed to provide stage-wise developmental interventions including training with respect to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) development in India.
There are so many national level programmes at present; I feel there is a need to align them and have better coordination before starting a new one.
What will the centre do? It would just amount to adding another layer of bureaucracy. Government agencies can hardly do anything for MSMEs because they have to survive in the market.
If it is at any point similar to what we have in Russia, the best thing you can do is probably make it even easier to make business, and the entrepreneurs will emerge. You have tremendous human capital, I believe there'll be a lot of people choosing to do business. On the other hand, in general, there's a good track record of successful programs in India, that didn't turn into burocratic hassle. So why not to support entrepreneurial skills starting at schools, so that the probability of someone doing business eventually increases and call it a Program?
