This person applies his knowledge of arrays of science based disciplines .....computer science ,linear algebra ,electrical n electronics engineering in order to solve a social problem.hes a scientist.
Even the person studying surgery n medicine (medicine is an art) is considered a scientist.
So the artificial intelligence knowledge is itself an assortment of sciences ...and the person applying it's so model art n design problems is a SCIENTIST
As technology continues to advance and creative expression takes new forms, the concept of an "artist" may undergo transformation. There are varying viewpoints on whether individuals adept at utilizing AI tools to craft art should be considered artists. Some believe that such individuals possess artistic prowess, while others draw a distinction between the human creator and the AI tool employed in the creative process.
The debate on whether the use of AI, like Midjourney, turns someone into an artist is complex, with reasonable arguments on both sides. On one hand, those who utilize these tools play a creative role in selecting prompts, refining and choosing the resulting outputs. They make aesthetic decisions to embody their artistic vision. In this sense, they could be considered modern artists who leverage new technologies, following the tradition of other artists throughout history. On the other hand, some believe that manual processes and traditional technical skills are essential in artistic creation. From this perspective, AI simply generates images based on pre-established patterns, without being a genuine extension of the human mind and sensitivity. We can see humans and AI as creative collaborators, each contributing complementary skills. The most important aspect, regardless of how it was produced, is the artistic result itself. If a work generates reflection, emotion, and new ways of perceiving the world, it has fulfilled the transformative purpose that art has historically had.
I would contend that AI is no more than a brush to a painter, or a cello to musician. It is a technology in the form of a tool in the hands of an individual. In this perspective, an individual my use AI with artistic intent, practising artistically. However, the outcome of the artistic intent--the 'work' of art--requires some form of social recognition. Whether a body--such as an art world, a society, or a powerful rich collector of artworks--determines the output (work of art) to be an 'artwork', is a different question. One can work artistically (by accident or intent) but to be recognised as an artist requires an accepting audience.
