We have a design case in which we are anaysing the possibility, and the issues and risks related, to install a double crossover, in a slab track solution, over a civil base slab foundation that provided every 30 meters transversal joints (contraction and expansion joints for a total range of movement of 30 mm) exactly under the turnouts (switch blades and crossing area).
The concerns are related to the fact that the crossover is the most delicate and sensitive special trackwork, and the movements transmitted by the underneath civil base slab, could affect and impact the right operating mode, tha safety of the interaction with the rolling stock and the durability of the system.
Do we have similar cases and the references (standards and projects) to provide a technical basis to reject the possibility to install the crossover in these above-described conditions? Thank you.
