Today's class development is being disrupted by the discussion of using or not Mobile Technology into the classroom, because students spend hours using the social network, even in class hours.
Whether a technology is disruptive or helpful largely depends on how it is used. Students should be allowed to use the technology to look up information and add to the class discussion, but they should not be using it in a way that distracts them from the class. The bigger issue is that the classroom environment is not itself conducive to discussion. We need a more topic based approach.
The popularisation and technological development of mobile phones have given prominence to these devices in m-learning. Due to their popularity, mobile phones can contribute to increase access to digital educational content as portable equipment.
Also i agree with Daniel Goldman it could be disruptive in class depends how it is being used.
I try to use mobile technologies among students mainly outside of the classroom, for example to access programming courses, eg when traveling to university (SoloLearn platform). In my opinion, the use of mobile technologies during classes must be clearly defined and planned. Otherwise, students get distracted and start using social media, e-mail and chat rooms.
Thank you all, I appreciate your interesting points of view.
I agree with Faisal Khalil and Daniel Goldman , it is teacher´s decision on when, how, why to use them but with a clear plan as Doctor Janusz Stal says. Even though, there could exist an imbalance, I consider we need to convince and orient students on how to use them appropriately, at this point I totally agree with Doctor Felix Hamza Lup because it is definitely a matter of students´attention.
