comparaison between heat-treated concretes (VC versus SCC):
in order to make a comparison between the traditional vibrated concrete (VB) and the self-compacting concrete (SCC), made with the same raw materials, but in different proportions, having regard to the different method of putting inplace of the two types of concrete (VB with vibration and SSC without vibration)?
If these concretes have undergone the same heat treatment cycle to accelerate their hardening,
in my opinion, you have to determine the initial and final setting time of the two concretes. If, as expected, the initial and final setting time for SCC is longer than those of VC - as a consequence of the higher dosage of super plasticizer - it is necessary to prolong the pre-curing time of SCC before heating and/or reduce the rate in increasing temperature.
Thisi is necessary in order to avoid formation of micro cracks in SCC matrix and consequently a penalization both in early and long term compressive strength.
