partial melting usually result in melts with felsic characteristic in comparsion with parent materials. The generation of intermediate to siliceous melts in continental subduction zone by melting of lower crust amphibolitic composiotion is a common proposed event.

I've analysis a gabbroic rock which show geochemichal feature of arc magmas with a similarities to lower crust characteristic vs mantle drived magmas. Articles published in this field discussed intermediate to siliceous melts production in SSZ by lower crust melting(during heat transfer from mantle drived magmas).

I want to know it is possible that basaltic melt could be produced by high degree partial melting of the lower crust amphibolite?

thanks
