Is there a relation between accumulation rates and carbonate ions (CO3-) in sea water, such that in higher acidity seas there is a greater productivity of calcites and thicker deposits over similar time periods? I have one ref for the Torcian that shows low productivity and thick Cretaceous chalk seems to be the rule in many parts of the globe.
