I want to know the distance (km) of a certain point, p with coordinates of 30°13’45’’N and 45 °37’83’’E from the equator; can anyone suggest ways on how to calculate it?
I remember I had this one in my computer. It is aimed at calculating Great Circle Distances ("A Great Circle Distance is the shortest distance between two points on a sphere. All lines of Longitude are Great Circles.") and it should be of interest to you. Please look at:
http://www.cpearson.com/Excel/LatLong.aspx
and dowload the file here:

It can be used with LibreOffice or OpenOffice Calc too.
This is not the place to start a new question. This thread is about "Distance of a location from the equator".
I would suggest you start a new question on your topic. A the top of this page, on the right side of it you have a button "Ask your own question". You may wish to use it.
In association with my previous question about the distanceof a location from the equator, i would like to add another question:
It is clear that equator and areas in the vicinity of equator are warm compared to poles. When we move from the equator to the poles the temperature decreases, but is there a standard poleward decrease in temperature, that means is there temperature gradient when we move from the equator to the poles?
