Partial or complete salts of PAA are more water soluble compared to the fully protonated form, if that is compatible with your research. A 1.25MDa PAA is huge, though, and solubility may be limited by its sheer size.

though you did not mentioned the solvent I suppose it is water. Weak acids (such as COOH) protonation are pH dependent, they are in the deprotonated form at arround 2.4 and below, so it becomes obvious that the dessolution is more efficient at higher pH. Regards

polyacrylic acid is soluble in alcohols, dilute alkali, DMF, formamide, water,1-methyl-2-pyridine.  

Regarding water, dissolution of polyacrylic acid increase with increasing temperature and pH. Having said that, please consider pH>7 and heating

You have to pre disperse your Paaa into low amount of ethanol then  add the slurry into a neutralised water bath at Ph 7,5 better if you are using Li OH or Nh4OH to increase pH to 7,5 

but it will change my solvent as I need to keep solvent as water

Could you tell me the solubility of polyacryclic acid (PAA) in DMF. I tried to disolve 0.2 g PAA in 5 mL DMF, but I didn't see PAA soluble in DMF.

I want to find a suitable sovent to dissolve 1-Dodecanol and PAA, I tend to do esterification reaction followed by steglich method. Hence, I think dissolve PAA in HCOOH is impossible.

this particle is acrylic acid hydrogels and you cannot dissolve them in any solvent. you should filter them.

when you heat PAA this gelation occur.

fully linear PAA dose not exist. so each PAA you have, consist of a little cross link part. temperature help to form cross linked PAA. crosslinked polymer not dissolve in solvent but swell in them. so you should dissolve PAA in water and filter swollen paticle.

if weight is important

you van dry filtrate then weight them and add excess amount of PAA to the solution.

Hello every one, i also graft gum arabic and PAA using ammonium persulfate as the initiator but after precipitating the hydrogels using acetone. i try to dissolve it in water but it forms a suspension that is partly dissolved. what exactly is consist on the suspension in the solution?

PAA polymer contains numerous carboxylic group (-COOH). Therefore, hydrogen bonding between each chains is so strong to be dissolved by any organic solvent like DMSO, NMP and so on. Firstly, we think about a force to break hydrogen bonding from PAA chains. Protic solvents(H2O, Ethanol etc..) is well emitting proton source(H+), so this proton is attached to carboxylic groups. Because of this, all of carboxylic groups obtaining proton appears positive charge that it shows pushing the chains with breaking hydrogen bonding. So, solvents to dissolve PAA polymer is suitable to use of protic solvent. you might easily search protic solvents type in google.
