Fast charging may reduce the lifetime of the battery since it causes high current density resulting in more electrode degradation.

The other reason that Lead-Acid are not getting being used in the grid application is the less reliability of these batteries since they don't degrade slowly and they shut down at one day like car batteries and this is not acceptable anymore in grid connected applications.
