Currently I am working on my thesis which incorporates the use of CropWat 8.0. As part of the Irrigation Schedule options I am going to use the option Irrigate at Fixed Depletion as per irrigation timing and Refill Soil to Field Capacity as per irrigation application.
The current issue I am facing is with the definition behind the phrases "Irrigate at Fixed Depletion" & "Refill Soil to Field Capacity".
P.S. the crop being grown is the Cabbage 'Nozomi'.

IRRIGATE TO FIXED DEPLETION:
That means you have to irrigate after a fixed amount of water has depleted (either extracted by roots or evaporated from soil) from the root zone, regardless of the time it takes. Say, you want to irrigate after 50 mm of water has been depleted. It may take 6, 7, 8, .... or 12 days according to crop type, growth stage, climate, soil type and some other factors.
REFILL SOIL TO FIELD CAPACITY:
This terms is usually used in DEFICIT IRRIGATION, to reflect how much water is available for irrigation. Normally, water is applied during irrigation to completely fill the root zone up to field capacity (F.C.). But sometimes, where there is shortage in water allocated to crop production, irrigation may done to partially fill the root zone and not to F.C.

Also, you can irrigate to a certain percentage of soil field capacity. For example, if your soil field capacity 50%, you can irrigate to 80% of soil field capacity. This means you irrigate when soil moisture content arrive to 40%.
