2. Read on existing literature to find out if the problem is indeed an academic vacuum in the area of research.
3. Formulate SMART objectives and weave its associated research questions and assumptions.
4. Carry out a literature survey or research on related literature (published and unpublished) on the subject of investigation.
5. Look for appropriate methodology (Research approach, Data collection instruments etc.) that can best answer the research questions individually and prepare a draft. Compare the methodology which the methodologies implemented by renowned researchers in the field for similarities to be used as a guide. Identify the study area (if it is a case/phenomenological study), population, sampling procedures and techniques and validate them if they are the MOST appropriate for the research to be carried out.
6. Analyze the data (findings) accrued from the data collecting instruments, while comparing and contrasting the findings with the theories and concepts in the literature. The analytical tools and procedures must correlate with the methodological approach selected and agree with the tenet of the research.
7. Draw valid conclusions from the findings rigorously analyzed and suggest cogent and practical recommendations for policy implementation that is capable of arresting or solving the problem identified.
