I am a third year Mathematics with Statistics student currently completing a project within multiple linear regression. I am currently struggling to obtain a data set within sports to show how statistics can be used in many areas of life. The data set will have to be continuous for the dependent and independent variables and have applications within sports. Any help with finding a data set or a place to find one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot for your help.

I remembered an article on baseball in the Journal of Statistics Education (JSE), which is all Open Access, I think. This article is by Samaniego and Watnik, 1997, put online in 2017. Here is the data table:

It is a small data set, but you can do multiple regression if you look at pitchers and hitters as independent variables and wins as the dependent variable. So, not much but it might help. Perhaps you can look through the JSE for a better data set. At any rate ... this is sports data, so ...
