I am looking for Daphnia in European city centers and would like to reach out to all you zooplankton lovers who might have encountered Daphnia magna in urban ponds anywhere between Sweden and the south of Spain! These populations will be used in my post-doc project in which I intend to build a Daphnia genomic database containing urban and rural populations to test for signals of parallel evolution at the genome level.

I encountered Daphnia magna populations both in some tributaries of Dnieper reservoirs and in one fish pond in Dnipropetrovsk regoin. Abundance of crustaceans varied from 3.5 to 89.8 thous. ind/m3. In addition I used the population of Daphnia magna from one pond near Tsarichanka villiage in biotesting study of water quality of some sites in Zaporizske reservoir.

Sorry I cant be significantly helpfull because the only Citiy ponds Daphnia`s source, presently available for me, are located in Israel where ponds including Daphnids are vextremely scarced
To find Daphnia, you have to search ponds which are organically rich especially receiving sewage.
