When the black hole was first proposed as a vacuum solution to Einstein's equations of general relativity, it was received with great skepticism to the possibility of it representing an actual astronomical object. At the time, gravity was understood only in the context of mass, and such strong gravitational field could only be created by a highly compact mass. Our deeper understanding of quantum entanglement nowadays, allows in our opinion for a reinterpretation of black holes. Specifically, we suggest that the strong gravitational field at the center of the black hole could actually be due to the vacuum as originally suggested. The black hole could be understood as consisting of different degrees of energy from grosser at the periphery to subtler at the center, the origin of which could be the fact that all energy tends to decay towards the ground state of the vacuum, a state of perfect cancellation between matter-antimatter. The higher the rate of arising and disintegration of matter-antimatter pairs, the stronger the gravitational field.
