Morning Mohammed, The answer is yes, but you must be carefull with the dosage, Normally the amount of admixture is calculated from the cement content and the ratio for the PCE admixtures are from about 0.5% to 1.5 % now the same apply for the Retarders and they have a simular range. So when you use that in concrete and you have for example a Slow reacting Class 32.5N cement you might end up with with retardation in set, over 24 hours, because some of the new Supers also retard at high dosages, the older ones like the Melamine's and Nephtaline's did terard in any case at the higher scale of dosage. Long story short yes but be carefull.
hello Mohemmed, yes you can but for better performance of plasticizing and retardering i prefer to use the new generation superplasticizer with daul effect, it work like superplasticizer and retarder as well, also for compatibility issues. they are located under CLASS G of superplasticizers in ASTM C494... Best regard
Thanks Derek Mostert, i will do trsil mix by fixing the percentage of superplasticizer with varient percentage of retarders to have suitable setting time. Best Regards Mohammed
Shihab Ibrahim, Thanks for your clarification. unfortunately the superplasticizer which i used in the initial of my experimental work not included retarders, So i need to use both in this case. Regards
