I have seen this unusual phenomenon several times: my IgG3 hybridoma cells switch to IgG2a isotype in the peritoneal cavity. Interestingly, only the IgG2a mAbs is functional. I am sure that the IgG3 hybridoma is a single clone without any other cell pollution before the i.p. The problem is, I have not been able repeat the isotype switching in mice anymore, does anybody have any idea about this odd phenomenon?
