My interest is about the costs of Nd:Yag cristal and/or fiber lasers: What are the specific costs (US $ or Euro per Watt installed beam power) of the active components and how are the subsequent costs for the whole assembly of the laser source? Finally, I'm interested in the long-term trade of the price (minus % per year or half price every N years, respectively)? --
I would be grateful for some information or hints to actual papers or articles I may cite.

The cost depends on system characteristics, like power, pulse width, frequency range, wavelength, etc.. The application also depends on the above parameters; fiber laser require less maintenance than Nd:YAG.
First of all you need to know what kind of experiments, or problem to be solved, then look for the system what specific characteristics, the look for the laser and the seller.
