I'm trying to prepare liquid-phase exfoliated MoS2 in various solvents. According to the literature, the green-yellow color of the dispersion is a good indicator of the exfoliated nanosheets, However, my sample is transparent (no color)! what would be the reasons?!

try centrifuge in D-I water or methanol or ethanol more than 12 hours and then clean it several times using D-I water. This method we usually follow for carbon nanotubes. Hope so it will help for your case also.

Thanks for your response. I tried to prepare exfoliated MoS2 in water according to Xiao Hai's paper:
"Engineering the Edges of MoS2 (WS2) Crystals for Direct Exfoliation
into Monolayers in Polar Micromolecular Solvents", J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2016, 138, 14962−14969.
May be its not exfoliated well and all either precipitated or removed during you centrifugation process. Check some UV-VIS-NIR absorbance spectroscopy to check if you have any exfoliated MoS2 remain in ur solution.
Chandan is right, additionally you may consider the concentration as well, if using very small concentration go for UV analysis before discarding your reaction mixture...:)
