We are doing a research about factors associated with failed induction of labor. We measure maternal and fetal characteristics at the time of admission to the hospital and then we induce labor and if that failed, we would do emergency c-section.
We divide our sample into two groups (vaginal delivery or c section) and compare variables in these 2 group to find out what factors cause failed induction of labor.
What I want to know is that if this study is considered retrospective cohort or a cross-sectional?

Thanks for the good study. but now your study to be retrospective cohort or cross section will depend on your study design and kind of data you will be using. if i understand well your question, you collect data at the time you admit the patient, it cannot be considered as retrospective cohort as this uses existing data to reach on conclusion. here you exposed women to induction labor, when succeed the woman delivers the baby vaginally and when fail C-section. now you consider outcomes that they are having this is a cross sectional study. if you enter their history before birth without considering the situation in parturition, it will be taken as retrospective cohort.

It is cross-sectional analytical study. It does not meet the basic criteria of either case-control studies or cohort-studies. You can not established causal association from this study.
We used logistic regression to find factors causing failed induction. Is this not considered causal association?
