We electrochemically deposited the cobalt oxide (Co3O4 or CoO)on carbon cloth. The cobalt oxide is deposited from the precursor of Co(NO3)2 and annealing in air. However, it can't match the database of Co3O4 or CoO. The result seems similar to CoO pattern, but it has some shift. What cause that? But the peak position of carbon cloth is correct.
And the result seems match some peaks of Co3O4 pattern.

Can you upload the raw file of your xrd pattern so we confirm your work correctly. The pattern is seemed for CoO. But at 36.8 degree may related to Co3O4 spinel (100% intensity) that overlap with the first peak of CoO at the same 2theta degree. Also no peaks appears at about 59 and 65 2theta degree that related to Co3O4. Shifting of 2 theta towards higher or lower 2 theta is related to microstrain present in the unit cell.
It seems that you have CoO. Your peaks are very close CoO patterns and a little different might be related to spinel formation. Existence of spinel in final product depend on you calcination temperature or other heat treatment and synthesis situation is possible. More over existence of various oxide form of an element is possible. For example nickel in the Ni/Al2O3 catalyst, based on the synthesis method and prepariation situation probably exhibits both NiO and NiAl2O4 form. For more investigation you must use of XPS or TPR analyses. Then you can have better conclusion about the type of oxide form and their proportion.

Hi Mohammed, I already upload the XRD raw data. please help me to check. And also I doubt that the strain of the crystal would cause such big shifting of 2 theta. I think that the shifting causes by strain is less than one degree (one degree at most). or it is still possible above one degree.
