Another example of climate change result. One of its consequences probably will be change of area of Japan exclusive economic zone.
I think the really important question is if currently in force Convention of the Law of the Sea (Montego Bay 1982) fully meets the challenges of the consequences of climate change?

General problem of Island is the water (présence or absence);
The development of economic zone is depended also from water source.
So, the climat change force the perturbation of island costal and not arrange the problems, but if the island disappeared completely - all problems also disappeared...
This is a terrible reality.
The disappearance of this island it obviously not due to climate change, as the sea level did not rise by more than 1.4 metres since 1987. Causes apparently include abrasion by sea ice and/or erosion in this case.
However, the example is still interesting as it demonstrates possible legal consequences of the disappearance of islands and change of coastlines due to climate change induced sea level rise in the future, including the shift of international borders and national influence zones, which may have the potential to cause international conflict.
