Note that the Lorentz equation does not say that the mass of the proton increases 10,000 times. It simply says that its mass progressively increases with velocity as more and more energy is provided to it by the E-field.
CERN simply confirmed that the more energy you provide to it, the more massive it will become, with maximum mass reached at the maximum energy that CERN can provide it.
