My study aims to identify the factors leading to employability of tourism graduates, and establish a causal relationship with the identified factors and employability. Sorry, but no I am not aware of any research in India on this subject. In fact, I the last time I looked at their system of tourism statistics (i.e. 2014-205) , I don`t believe that they had yet developed detailed basic statistics on the characteristics of employment (jobs) and and employees in the the tourism industries that would be needed to answer this question at the macro level in that national context. However, Canada has developed that capacity and associated macro-level level labour supply and demand models for forecasting the demand for jobs by occupation and industry within the Canadian tourism sector.
You are absolutely correct. In my knowledge, we don't have any serious studies conducted in this direction. Government also lacks original information as estimates prepared by them are not realistic. Its high time to design a mechanism to assess the supply and demand of human resources in tourism. My study is an attempt to establish a causal model which predicts the employability of tourism graduates in the eyes of service providers. This study will be conducted in Varanasi (a small city in India).

I agree that research on this subject is needed. One of the challenges of such research is obtaining a frame or register of the local population of service providers from which to draw a scientific sample for the purposes of your proposed survey. Do you have access to such a list, perhaps from your local destination marketing organization or tourism association? Also the Indian tourism satellite account can provide you with an official view of the scope of the tourism sector at the national and sub-national region level. Do you have access to that/those national publications?
Thanks for your suggestion. We do have Government of India tourism office in Varanasi and they can provide me the list of approved tourism service providers. Ministry of tourism also publishes its statistics of tourist arrivals. Once they publish the data, I can access it.

The Indian National Council on Applied Economic Research has also published a serries of reports on sub-national tourism satellite accounts for each of the states of India. You should be able to access the one for the state in which Varanasi is located. It would give you a more granular view of the structure of the tourism sector in your local region.For example see this report:

Whether students take an internship or not significantly affects speed of employability. The problem is that the term 'internship' is defined in a number of ways. I've published several journal articles on the subject; this is one:

There is another line of research that could help with this research question is to look at the research literature on the "career paths" of workers employed in various tourism related occupations. The Canadian Tourism Human Resource Councel has done some research for selected tourism occupations found within the sector, such as chefs and hotel managers.
One of the challenges of your proposed research is the very diverse range of work related occupations found within tourism sector. However, as yet, there is no standard agreement on what occupations are "characteristic' of the tourism industries. For some insights into the possibility of narrowing the focos of your resarch project to specific tourism related occupations see my case study publication written for the ILO in 2014, WORKING PAPER 5 May 2014 Measuring Employment in the Tourism Industries Beyond the Tourism Satellite Account: A Case Study of Canada. One research strategy for this line of research would be work with various educational institutions offering tourism and hospitality certificate and degree programs to see if it would be possilbe to obtain acess to their lists of graduating student cohorts to do follow-up surveys of their subsequent successive jobs inside and outside the tourism sector in Varnasa, Uttar Pradesh, other parts of India or elsewhere.

It inspires me to conduct a research in the near future on Indian Context.
The following objectives.
1. Identify key factors determining employability of tourism graduates (in selected cities in India).
2. Contribution of various factors that decide employability of tourism students.
3. Examining the job preferences of tourism graduates.
As suggested by you, the tasks include deciding the sample frame and defining the nature and category of jobs generated by tourism industry in India.
I could also access a number of research articles explaining the core competencies of tourism graduates.
