hi i want to select a specific arrhythmia to my thesis. but i am unsure which one is good? can you give me a suggestion about it. i want to detect one arrhythmia based on ecg signal processing
As an emergency doctor and biomedical engineering ph.d. student i can say generally in practice we always face with atrial fibrillation and atrial premature complexes with ventricular tachicardia attacks. But you have to know with simple ecg we can see arrythmias easily. Ventricular premature complexes generally are not serious arrytmias therefore we generally dont need to detect to treat it. I advice you to work on real time brain signal processing for neural diseases.
Have a go at atrial fibrillation. It is more challenging than PVCs and it is the most common arrhythmia, affecting between 1 and 2% of the worldwide population.
Atrial fibrillation will be an excellent option. Community based prevalence of AF and correlating it with various risk factors will be good. With aging population, non valvular AF is emerging as a major problem. If it can be identified early, many strokes can be prevented.
If u are considering use of signal processing, a wide complex tachycardia would be a good choice. To differentiate Supraventricular from Ventricular Tachycardia using different algorithms. Signal processing in Atrial Fibrillation has been done with use of IPhone too & has been published recently
