Hi everyone, we have just completed a survey of a community where height and weight of children under 5 was also recorded. In trying to interpret these, here are some questions:
1. what are some of the ways in which to interpret such data
2. you see height and weight percentile charts/ calculators online. Is there a way to put this into a formula that we can embed in excel

2. if you create a function calling the service, then you can embed the function in a cell. The question is what kind of protocol the service employs, it can be easier to find the actual formulae itself and implement that. If the service does not have a well-defined protocol for other applications to call it (e.g., based on REST or something similar), then you have to rely on hacking skills to figure out how to pass parameters to the service. Apart from being tricky and possibly illegal, if the service changes, then your implementation must change too.
First go for unsupervised machine learning to come up with different categories and then try to figure out the factors have impact on the parameters of interest. After this you can choose one of the algorithm to learn from your data set and then predict if new data is given as input. This will be your calculator also......
Yes , Excel itself has quite a lot of statistical visualization (graphical ) formula(s) .
If you want regression then you can implement in VBA script and embed as a macro in excel

Isn't there a standard relationship to tell you if the person is healthy or not solely based on that? As far as I know, women should be at most of the weight of their height taking away 1.
There is also a scale for height and age, like a normality scale.
There is still something called morbid obesity, which connects super heavy weights and sure disease.
