Hi,
I have isolated a compound (white needle-shaped crystal) from chloroform extract of leaves of Combretum punctatum (column solvent-chloroform:methanol 96:4), that dissolves readily in methanol. From literature, the compound could be a class of cycloartane terpenoid, but could not make out the exact structure. I would be very grateful if you could help me out. I am attaching the IR, MS and NMR (Proton and Carbon) spectras.

I analyzed its spectral data, mainly from 1H and 13C NMR, and I could see that it really is a sample constituted, marjoritely, for a cycloartane-type triterpene (displayed characteristic signals of set of cyclopropane methylene proton at 0.49 and 0, 69 ppm; J =4.2 Hz). The oxygenations are consistent with OH in beta-C3 (4.5 dd and 73 ppm) and alpha-C1 (3.5 br s and 71 ppm), whose C29 is present in a carboxyl group (ring A; 180 ppm). I have no way of giving more information, as the compound is not pure, making it difficult to know if some of the olefins (between 110 and 150 ppm) belong to its majority, or to a minority compound.
