Those are very broad topics. Is this for an entire course or just your lab? Who will be supervising them (you or other colleagues with different areas of expertise)? What are the research themes being carried out in the labs which will be hosting these students?
Hard to go wrong with a bioprospecting project. Just need to collect a soil sample, culture some bacteria or fungi from it and then do some genus identification using PCR and maybe some assays for enzymatic capabilities. If you have a compound of interest with a coloured analog or easy to read absorbance peaks it is even easier.
You could also screen for drug resistance in various species and try to isolate the causative gene for transgenic expression in a target system.
Expression of vitamin/essential amino aid/essential fatty acid synthesis pathways in animal cells is also an easy one as you can use media that lacks the nutrient for selection.
The expression of pigment synthesis pathways in specific tissues is also straight forward and could be used for novel markers.
Maybe you could list what animal and plant species you and your colleagues work with or have easy access to.
But what species of animal? Do you work with fruit flies? Nematodes? Mice?Chicken? Cows?
Different species have different toolboxes available for their genomic manipulation. Also differences in generation times can impact on if multigeneration crosses would be an option.
To apply biotechnology to an animal system will require you to have a genetically modifiable species in the lab to use as a chassis/host. Does your lab have the facilities for cell culture or to be able to maintain whole animals?
Try and find out what labs are available and what people do ( exactly ) then figure out which of the methods you would like to learn most then go for a project from there. Often its great to help a post-doc or a later stage Phd student in their projects. What will be very important is how much supervision youll be getting, so ask around ( past students/masters students / phd students etc.). See if you get along well with your potential supervisor and the other people in the lab. If the project is intersting enough go for it.
In a Bachlors thesis dont expect to get a whole lot done, so the focus should really just be the methods youll be using and the supervision youre getting.
