Soil health card is a scheme launched by the Government of India in February 2015. The Government plan was to use soil cards to farmers which will carry crop-wise recommendations of nutrients and fertilizers required for the individual farms to help farmers to improve the productivity through judicious use of inputs. It is actually soil test based balanced use of fertilizers. The idea was good but the implementation part is very poor so far... Moreover, we need to educate the farmers first. Still I believe the scheme may help the soil health improvement if it is followed strictly by the farmers and with proper knowledge balance fertilizer and manures is pl;aced on the field.
