Fish waste compost is used as manure, acidic extraction from it is possible and can be used as foliar applicable fertilizer in my view.

Since fish waste is a organic manure comprising of amino acids, phospholipids and enzymes, I am confused to know how plant could uptake these ready-made organic essential materials through foliar application like animals. It seems to me that these biochemical products are produced in plant for performing various bio-chemical activities. Organic matter in waste must be decomposed microbiological for the release of these essential elements like ,C,N,P,S etc.

Plants do not uptake the organic compounds as they are, but are mostly mediated by arbuscular mycorrhizas and PGPR bacteria, following the catabolic actions of other heterotrophs and chemoautotrophs through decomposition and remineralization of the elements which the plants then incorporate via stomatal imbibition or through rhizoidal adsorption into the vessels. Fertilizers dripping onto the soil after foliar spray may become source of nutrition to be incorporated by the roots; but in that regard the sole application on the leaves will not be entirely effective other than promoting the development of excess biofilm on the leaf surfaces which will eventually smother the stomata and hinder normal physiological performance of the plants.

It is not prudent enough to think that foliar application will be entirely meaningless but its actual degree of efficacy might be different altogether than what is being perceived hypothetically, prior to the actual application, in my humble opinion.

There are so many pgr in the market in which mostly the amino acids are present and when applied to the plant as foliar application they show very nice results that's why I thought to extract the amino acid from waste and other essential components which can improve the plant health.

Yes, you are absolutely right Dr. Sagar SUBHASH More in your defence but each set of the primarily used plant hormones such as auxins or indole/naphthal acetates, gibberelins, cytokinins, abscisic acid and even ethylene has their specific mode of augmentative actions as well as their individual mode of application. The ones you have referred to are optimally absorbed through the stomata or the guard cells of the stomata or even the lenticels but if you are pointing to the hormones that develop or initiate apical growth and buds then foliar application will not be useful unless there are already established and pruned groves which need to grow fast again.

BUT when you are thinking in the line of extracting nutrients from fish wastes then without ICP-MS or even GC-MS you can never be sure of the composition of the extracts and without the knowledge of the type of growth promoters present you will never be able to successfully utilize them with a specific mode of application.

In that case, as plant intake through the roots from soil is known to be many times more than any other method, one needs to combine the application methods in order to expect uncompromised yield from the crops.

To minimize time by knowing exactly where to apply the growth promoters or regulators one must analyze the extract first. This extra step will ensure the economization of the resources in a far more logical manner.
