respected dear i am working to a novel design of wet cooling tower for my final year project as B.E requirement.
I am confused about that if i use cars radiator instate of air to Air tube heat exchanger at the top of the tower ?
kindly help me and guide me , what will be results if i use car's radiator instate of air to air tube heat exchanger ? it would increase the efficiency of wet cooling tower or may decrease ?
Dear Khalid! yes you may able to use such radiators, however, consider thermal efficiency (as it might ought to loss). Perhaps, Varying the parameters to optimal state could help!
Yes, it can be applied for air to air HE but you should consider that you change the hot side fluid from water to air, by means all properties will be changed. Actually, heat transfer will decrease and you should re-design based on the available heat transfer area and required heat transfer rate.

In cooling towers, the two fluids (hot water and ambient air) are in direct contact, and this they are in the simplest form with advantage of being low cost. On the other hand, by using radiator, you're adding a delay in heat transfer through the use of coils. More importantly it would be more costly to use radiators for the same function.
Direct contact Heat exchangers are always better efficient. Air to air H/E are the least efficient, can only be used if there is no other alternative.
