I think it could be done, but with caution, since you will consider any dieback is caused by pests which is not the case. Many physiological changes could cause the death of trees.
Environment is not an isolated area, there may be many other problems, such as diseases, which can lead to water stress in this case. Radar can find damaged areas, for example, died trees, water stress and etc. but you may face critical problem to link these areas with pests. Then, validation and verification are significant.
It is better to find changed areas using Radar data without consideration of their origins!!
