Some peoples believe that we can not discriminate subspecies inside a population because of no distinctive genetic differentiations.
There are some different concepts about Insects subspecies, Can we rely on separating subspecies inside a population by genetics? some poepole belive that there are no difference to accept various subspecies inside a population or species?
Microsatellites would help most of the time. By using them, you can detect the genetic clusters in your population to some extent. But it should be kept in mind that these cluster are not necessarily correspond to the subspecies that you identify by using the phenotype (i.e. morphology, phenology, etc.).
I don't think subspecies can be reliably determined genetically because there is not genetically-based definition of subspecies. As a matter of fact, the "biological species concept" (a group of interbreeding or potentially-interbreeding individuals reproductively isolated from other like forms) potentially has a genetic basis, but not a genetic definition. To test if two taxa are species requires going into the field and seeing how the organisms relate to each other. The 75% rule (75% of the individuals in population A are recognizably different in some way from those in populations B even though they could interbreed with each other) does not translate into a genetic definition.

My problem related to what Harlo said it said that the gene expression influenced by environments conditions. if so, no confidence about even species.right?
