We have synthesized Na doped SrSiO3 using solid state reaction method. Since XRD indicate only crystalline phase and there is possibility of glassy phase (Na2Si2O5) formation along with crystalline phase. Can we quantitatively verify it using Raman analysis?
yes it is possible. Raman hás sensitivity to short range order. Broad bands related with glassy phases shuold appear. For silicon ralated glasses around 400 cm-1. Different bands arising from different molecular entities may show up so you possibly need to check them in the literature. Crystalline state can be also visible so you can state ratios between the amorphous to crystalline phases. Check my profile for two papers ralated with CdTeO film, we propose such analysis in mixture of glass/cristalline materials.
At present absolute quantification by sole use of Raman spectroscopy would be very difficult. Quantification using Raman needs reference materials and well as consideration of scattering efficiencies of each component. Further, the excitaion laser wavelength also leads to intensity variations of Raman bands. You can definitely make relative estimations of the phases present, e.g. predominant, significant, small fractions etc. In near future, quantification would be possible once Raman standards are established.
Indeed, raman would work to stablish semiquant ratios, that is usually an intended goal
