Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics has been though in the school. This makes very difficult to come up with a different model. The probability cloud makes the particle disappeared. I am proposing that the particle is in two physical places at the same time. This model reproduces same predictions of orthodox QM but rescue the particle. Being in two places at once resolves the EPR paradox. There is a spooky action at a distance because the particle is in both places. To arrive to this we need to get familiar with the concept of hypergeometry. What do you think?
However, as in all interpretations of quatum mechanics, they are -so far- just interpretations. We cannot measure the wave function directly, it is merely a nice mathematical value, which gives extremely good predictions. We can only measure its squared value, which makes "understanding" quantum mechanics at this level so counter intuitive. As long as you cannot propose an experiment, which can prove or disprove an interpretation, it is a mere philosophical question, which interpretation is right or wrong or causes less headache.
Maybe, what you should look for is the "pilot wave interpretation" of quantum mechanics also know as de-Broglie-Bohm theory. Which is vaguely similar to your idea and also helps to understand - or at least visualize - many experiments, without given up the particle. There is even an extremely nice, hydrodynamical analogue system, look for "Couder experiments".
Dear Andrey, hold your horses! Am I offending you in any way? Weak measurement experiment shows you explicitly that one particle is in two different physical places at once, all the time. Just as Bhom mechanics predicted. The act of measurement collapsed this mode of the particle and you end up seeing just one spot at the detector screen. This mode of traveling makes the particle completely non local. The uncertainty principle might hold precisely because the particle is non-local all the time. How would you explain partial reflection or self interference with Fourier analysis? In the weak measurement experiment, it is observed that the photon dodged the minima spots. Therefore, it is not that the photon has a low probability to arrive there but that it will never land there...why? Why you do not like that the particle can be in two different places at once? self interference just show you that!
Dear Michael, I think my model is Bhomish! It explains why you do not "see" the pilot wave. This is because it is hidden in time. The good side of this model is that it rescues the particle, keeping the wave. I am saying this because I looked for evidence and I found that the the shapes of the nucleus of the atom are the time symmetric intersection of a hypertorus. You can find that in the paper "femtometer toroidal structures in nuclei". Also, I found that the molecular orbitals has those shapes too.
Dear Wulf, self interference and partial reflection strongly suggests that the particle is in two places at once. Imagine two entangled photons that are traveling in opposite directions. But they are witnessing each other in both places apart. When you measure one the other will collapse to the entangled counter property. This without superluminal signaling. You do not violate relativity and do not violate quantum mechanics.
The 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics was a warded to two physicists S. Haroche and D. Wineland they proved that the electron and the photon can be in two places at once. My papers explain how!
The collapse of the wave function solves everything. If I do not observe it is in two places, but if I observe it is only in one place. It is curious that they do not know how to deduce the wave equation, but instead if they know what the wave function means

It all comes down to 4-dimensional space spheres, whose diameter is the Planck length. From there, quantum phenomena and relativistic phenomena are deduced. Also, the constants are calculated and the Schrodinger equation is deduced, for example.

The weak measurement experiment shows explicitly that each photon is at the two slits of the interference aparatus . Furthermore, each photon stays in two trajectories at once all the time of the experiment. How can we explain that?
