However, with the availability of new apple varieties, apple cultivation are being undertaken in warmer climates, like foothills of Nagaland and other North-Eastern States. Many low chilling cultivars of apple are available such as Annna, Tamma, Neomi, Perlins Beauty, Early Fuji, Dorsett Golden and IPR Julieta etc.
Anna variety (introduced from Israel in 1965) that prefers heat and humidity and it needs chilling between the range of 250-300 hrs. It is a early season cultivar. It produces flowers in the February.
Yield trials were successfully conducted in Lalumbung Makhong, Naosekpam Leikai at Imphal, Manipur and got good results.
You can grow this variety (Anna) with 33% pollinizer trees of "Dorsett Golden" for cross pollination.
