While searching RoL (reviews) related with my PhD research topic, I have seen various blogs and web pages relevant with my study. Can we cite them as well in our thesis?
if yes, pl. suggest the citation and referencing style.
As a matter of fact these sources must be cited. Most referencing approaches such as Harvard, APA, Vancouver and the likes will have specifications on how to cite such sources. Remember that plagiarism constitutes using someone else's idea, words or conceptualisation without acknowledging them. Therefore, irrespective of the source, as long as they are citable, should be cited. Most plagiarism detection softwares will pick on direct plagiarism from blogs and other websites.
Please acknowledge ALL your sources to be on the safe side.
Most often you will have the name of the blog writer, the date the blog was written and posted and the URL. These elements should be enough based on the referencing style to get you through. Addition information would include when you last retrieved Information from the source.
Dear Leena, I agree with Ferdinand, but before referencing a blog, double check it against plagiarism: often bloggers paste materials which they have got from other publications without giving the proper pointers to their sources
