To determine the mole percentage, you must know the molar mass (g / mol) of all compounds that make up the catalyst. To determine the weight percentage, you must know the weight (g) of each of the components that make up the catalyst. Clay is made up of many oxides. Their molar mass is difficult to determine. Therefore, a weight percentage is better suited for a clay-based catalyst.
If you have known molecular weight and their amount in any form (carbon nanotubes, metal oxide, clay and so on) then easily calculate the mole by using the formula :
Mole (N) = mass / molecular mass
