In some areas of the world, particularly in the tropics, the species available do not have sufficiently distinct seasonal patterns so my question is if there are any another technique or is it possible to establish the absolute date of events from Dendrochronology.

You could look at isotopic chemistry to establish a few key dates such as the first atomic bomb. You could also try densitometry to find less obvious annual growth cycles, but if you do not have a sufficiently strong annual weather cycle (wet-dry or warm-cold) to form annual rings, you will probably not be able to get reliable annual dates.
