Recently due to incidental leakage from a sugar factory, thousands of tons of molasses flowed into a nearby river in Indian Punjab. As a result of that thousands of tons of fishes and other organisms died instantly which further polluted entire river water which is used for drinking purpose by 2-3 near by states.

Though National Green Tribunal (NGT),India has taken a notice of it and doing further needful wrt law enforcement but still I am skeptical about normalcy of aquatic life as few of species at Harike wetland were already endangered.

Besides this can we imagine that residue of such industrial waste will get cleared along with flowing water in 2-3 days or it will take a longer period to do so.
