suppose one is preparing bismuth ferrite pure phase through sol gel and calcining different amount of the samples, will the reactant volume will affect the process?
Well, there is no definitive answer. In my research, while obtaining mixed oxides, if the amount of sample to be calcined is too large, and depending on the operating conditions of the furnace, the calcination reaction may not occur completely in the very center or bulk of the sample. . . giving rise to samples with zones with different levels of crystallinity and phase purity. it is best to sinter smaller amounts of material or subject them to longer periods of calcination
yes. the volume or the amount in the crucible affects the crystal formation. I also saw the incomplete crystal formation in the middle when I used large amount of precursor but when reduced the amount, (keeping the reaction conditions same ) the crystals was formed properly.
