Most papers on the subject state that the generalised play-operator based Prandtl-Ishlinskii Model can only be used for CCW hysteresis loops. However, in this paper:  10.1109/TCST.2015. 2446959, it is alluded to that the play-operator based model will go clockwise if the density function is negative.

Is this allowed? Is there any other way to use a play-operator based PI model to go CW? I am aware of the stop operator, but am yet to see a generalised version of this used for hysteresis modelling.
